I got that Monday morning feeling today which started at about 3am... by that feeling, I mean the feeling I used to get when I was training properly and Monday was always the most painful day because of deadlifts from Sunday. I was in agony when I first got up and I couldn't help but feel really chuffed to be back aching that much again. Makes me feel like I have done some good training.
I went for a 3 mile run... it was going to be 4 miles but then I thought better of it... can't remember who once said to me (may have been the coach at the Harriers) that you should never increase speed and distance at the same time. I really wanted to see if I could run a bit faster today so stuck with the 3 miles. It went great and whilst sticking to the 3:1 walk/run ratio, I found my running parts were back to a sub 10mm pace. I am embarrassed to say that I looked forward to the 1 minute walk... more for the lack of fitness as opposed to needing it for the sake of my foot!
I then went over to my mams and we did our mile run... she got another PB, this time by 12 seconds. She is doing fabulous! :-)
So, most of the day has been spent doing housework and ironing while Graeme did the garden. I read a bit more of my book, which is turning out to be a fantastic read. I mentioned to Graeme that maybe he should have a go at looking at his knee from his own little 'spaceship'... he looked at me like I was a complete lunatic. Oh well, it wouldn't work if he didn't believe it anyway, so there wasn't much point pursuing the idea!
So, I now have my core exercises to do. I find them really hard after doing deadlifts the day before as my back aches quite a lot, but I am already improving. With the aid of a Swiss ball I can now do a back bridge with my head and feet on the ground and no hands. It's amazing how quick I have come on really!
