Misery loves a debit card

I didn't do my core session last night. I seemed to hit a depressive state and this carried forward to today. I watched stacks of runners out enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air and I felt really miserable. I didn't even want to do my step training (which I've been looking forward to attempting on my new step for a whole hour).
So what is needed when misery knocks on your door? Well, retail therapy of course!

Graeme and I went to Newcastle and had great fun looking in a few shops and buying a few essential running items. He wanted those Zig tech trainers, and although I'm not a fan of them and think they are rather gimmicky, they are going on his feet not mine so I remained silent as he asked the shop assistant for a pair in his size. She slowly and deliberately said that if he wanted a gait analysis she couldn't do them for these shoes, and then asked was he sure he didn't want something else to run in instead. He wanted to try them, so she got him a pair. He hated them!

We went back to Start Fitness (where we went originally but they don't stock those shoes... I wonder why!) and he got some new Asics trainers. I tried to get a pair of Kinsei 3's but the pink ones I like are obsolete as the Kinsei 4's are due out in May. Luckily I have 2 pairs that will get me through until I can get some in May. The brand new ones I got a couple of weeks ago are being sent to my friend who I think will get on well with them. They are just an incy bit small and my orthotic doesn't sit comfortable in them. If my friend falls in love with them the way I have, she may end up hating me for introducing her to a £140 pair of shoes!!!

So, along with the trainers, I got a new Adidas top and shorts,a new swimming costume, a pair of Reebok Easy Tones (which feel great on the ball of my foot), a lovely comfy dressing gown and a gorgeous pink skirt. I felt much better after my purchases and came home much more motivated and got stuck into my step training. It went really well and I found it relatively easy considering I kept quite a high cadence throughout the hour. I felt great afterwards.

And I have decided to try and hunt out a proper buoyancy suit and shoes for my deep water running. The weights do a good job but I have to faff on re tightening them every now and again and the buoyancy belt rides up all the time. I think I shall get them for my birthday... if I can find a stockist in the UK!
