After work today I went to my mams house for a coffee. She had clearly been putting a lot of thought into my suggestion about running and had a few questions. She seemed so eager that I decided to strike while the iron was hot and before she could take time to think about it, we were in the car on our way to Newcastle to visit Start Fitness.
A successful trip, we got her all kitted out with new Asics trainers for a very mild over pronator (lucky cow), a new tech t-shirt, capri bottoms and a gel belt so she could put her inhaler in and also hide a part of her stomach she feels embarrassed about.
We got back to her house and went out for our first run. She was a little nervous but she did absolutely brilliantly. Overall she had 7 running stints (the last 2 were quite a way too). She only needed her inhaler once (after quarter of a mile) and when we got back she looked proud as punch. My dad was so chuffed for her, and already she can't wait for Monday when we are going again. Tomorrow we are doing some upper body and core work and I've never seen her so keen before. Good on her, I'm very proud.
I tagged another mile onto the end of our run (so it was also done outside). All seems OK so far... and I'm sure it will be tomorrow... positive thinking and all that!
