Today I went to the swimming baths to do deep water running instead of intervals, as my foot seems a little sore still after Saturdays long run.
I couldn't believe how quiet it was, and enjoyed a huge area all to myself which really is a rarity. There were 3 kids messing around by chucking their key into the deep end and then diving down to retrieve it... occasionally splashing me in the process, but so polite and saying how sorry they were. One of the girls asked what I was doing, and when I told her, her reply was, "That's proper mint that like!"
So, an hour later and I was done. This is the longest I've ever done DWR... previously only ever getting to 30 minutes. With this in mind, I took it really steady in order to pace myself (thinking it would be like doing a long run compared to a shorter one). In hindsight, I wish I'd pushed myself a bit more as I didn't feel any different than I do when I only do 30 minutes!
I got home afterwards and saw that my "Squat Buster" has come. This is a sort of pad that you put on the barbell so when you do squats they don't break your neck in half! I think it will make quite a big difference to the rolled up towel I have used up until now. Tomorrow I get to see just exactly how much I can squat. I've only gone up to 50KG because Graeme has had to lift the weight onto my shoulders and any more would be difficult for him to lift so high up. Now that the power cage is here, I finally get to see what sort of strength I have (or haven't) got!
