Stronger

I had a brilliant training day today.
I woke up feeling full of beans. (Must have been eating that rice last night, that I moaned my head off about when Graeme bought it).

We walked into the studio for our circuit class to see a row of exercises laid out in front of the mirror and a lot of space at the back with cones marking out an area. Straight away Jen said this was Grahams' new session he had been talking about and said it had something to do with partnering up and doing repetitions of exercises instead of seconds per station.

So, Graeme and me partnered up... while one of us did 50 reps on an exercise the other ran between the cones until it was time to swap over.
The exercises were press ups, jack knives, high step ups, bicep curls with 4KG dumbells, lateral raises with 2KG dumbells, reverse lunges, shoulder press with 2KG dumbells, bridges, tricep dips and squats.
I was really pleased with myself for how well I did the press ups (even did the first 10 properly without going onto my knees) and the tricep dips were done the best I've managed too. I found the lateral raises and shoulder press almost impossible but stuck at it until I reached the 50 reps. The running in between exercises ended up being quite a pleasant recovery period (with the exception of being after high step ups and squats).

We had a few minutes recovery when we were all done and then we did 25 repetitions on each station (50 for the high step ups so we had done the same on each leg).
I really enjoyed the session as it was a bit different, I also felt like I had something to aim for because it was a certain amount of reps as opposed to a time period. I felt really strong today and it was a good feeling.

This afternoon, that strong feeling continued, and my straight leg deadlifts were done quite well! My first set was 15 @ 20KG as a warm up, second set 15 @ 25KG, the third set was done in a speed/explosive sort of way with 15 reps @ 35KG. Fourth set 12 @ 45KG, fifth was 10 @ 50KG and a final set of 5 @ 55KG... I did attempt a 6th rep but failed.
Unlike last week I didn't feel like passing out afterwards and I haven't needed an hour to get over it. I definitely feel like I'm getting stronger, and looking in the mirror today while lifting the weights, I see I'm starting to form new muscles too!
