Saturated fat

It's been a bad day today!
Bi-monthly Friday meetings in Wetherby always are... you start the day with a sausage butty and tea, go up to the meeting room and have a coffee and ginger biscuits, the sweets in the bowls in front of you are eaten without a flicker of recognition, and then there's lunch....
Today I had tomatoes, cucumber, steak pie, fish goujons, potato wedges, baby sweetcorn and green beans. My only saving grace today is that I chose only one chocolate tart and declined a lemon one too!

By the time I got home, it was so late and I was so knackered I didn't go to do my bike session. Instead I carried on the days events and had a stir fry and brown rice. I now feel like the Michelin man!

So, I think this is a good time for rule number 2 to come into force.
Rule 1... Eat low GI foods with slow release carbs (This has been mostly adhered to!)
Rule 2... Cut out saturated fat.

This one isn't going to be so easy. Do you realise how much saturated fat is in a lot of foods? It's quite a lot. I now know about polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats... now to put it into practice.
I haven't lost any weight this week, however my waist measurement has gone down, so it's all good!

My training this week has been really good, so much so that looking back 13 weeks ago before I started this training regime I know that I could not have managed to do this weeks training back then. I have been looking for an ultra marathon to do next year and have seen a few that I would like to do (although some are most certainly out of my league at the moment).
I emailed the bosses (William and Shaun) about one in Ireland next April, to see what they thought. It's a bit longer than the 50K they recommended, so they are going to have a talk about it and let me know if they think I'll be up to it by then. It's quite exciting really, I'm really looking forward to doing one.
