I had the worst nights sleep ever last night. If I had slept for 3 hours I'd have been lucky! It seemed every time I moved in bed, I needed the toilet. By 4am I was absolutely knackered and felt quite upset wondering what was happening that I needed to go so much!
At 6am I got up to see that Shaun had emailed me during the night, as I had asked about my sudden jump in weight and was it normal or was I just eating too much.
The email must have taken him forever to write, as it was extremely detailed, as usual. I have to say that if you ask him and William a question, you don't just get a generic answer... they really put the time in to answer you as clearly and efficiently as they can, and for that I'm very grateful.
So, he spoke about a few different scenarios, and then I read what he had wrote about water retention. Straight away I thought about my awful night, the fact I've been using an electrolyte during my long run and speedwork (but hadn't used any the night before for the first time in a few weeks), and immediately went downstairs and weighed myself. Sure enough, I was 2.5lb lighter and my waist measurement had gone down by 1 inch.
I have decided not to use the electrolyte for the foreseeable future to see what occurs with my weight. It's obviously too much for me. I have spent all day on the loo too, so I'm hoping I've got rid of enough that I don't spend all night in the bathroom again. Oh well, it's all trial and error for me at this stage.
I ran along the beach banks today, and it was lovely (if a little difficult in places). I then went to the gym to do my squats. Graeme came with me, however he won't need to come again, as there is no need for help. The squat bar has it's own safety features (not like the one I used to use at college where you removed the weight and stepped forward with the bar). This one has a twist and turn lever so you're just a twist away from removing the weight from your shoulders.
I did 15 A2G squats... erm... that's "low" ones (Arse to ground) with no weight. 15 box squats with the bar weight only (20KG), 15 reps of Speed squats and a last set of 15 Slow tempo squats, all with only the bar, as instructed.
I actually found them relatively easy, the only bad thing is my shoulders were hurting from taking the weight of the bar, so I'll have to remember a towel next time.
The weights bar that arrived yesterday looks monstrous! So, all of that equipment is in the gym upstairs ready for me to start my deadlifts at home. That will be so much easier for me. Graeme is even talking about making me a weights rack at work. :-)
Well done Cabbey sounds like you are putting in a huge amount of effort and hope you are feeling like you are getting somewhere! Lionnose
