Today my calves are really aching from yesterdays skipping attempts, however the rest of me felt fine, so I was looking forward to an easy run.
It was 22 degrees, however there was a lovely cooling breeze off the sea. I set off from Seaham Hall Spa and took the trail path which was really beautiful. I ended up coming out onto the main road by the sea and ran down onto the beach path for half a mile or so before coming up a really steep climb to get back onto the road.
The weather was beautiful, and I ran until I hit around 22 minutes and then turned back, running a few inclines on the way.
I went straight into the spa gym and did 3 sets of bodyweight squats (20 reps each set). I found these much harder than I have previously, and wonder if all the tiredness is catching up with my legs all of a sudden.
I then did 2 sets of 15 deadlifts @ 18KG, and a final set of 8 reps @ 22.6KG
I knew I had to stop when my legs felt like jelly and I started to lose form on the exercise.
I'm now home, bathed, stretched and changed... and my legs still feel like jelly. It's a nice easy day tomorrow though, so I can cope, I'm sure!
