Last night I got an email from William and Shaun with my new training programme. Scanning down the weekly schedule, I realised that I have "something" to do every day. It looks fairly manageable with some difficult stuff here and there, for instance I have to do a long run with my XL vest on Saturday, then have a circuit class and weights on a Sunday. I've never done 2 "hard" days in a row before, so I can imagine the first 3 weeks or so while I'm adjusting to it will be very tiring.
They gave great details of everything I'm to do, along with the programme... I don't know how they find the time to do it all. There was even a few paragraphs on static/dynamic and ballistic stretches, and a whole load of information on footcare that I'm to adopt on a weekly basis.
So, tonight I did 43 minutes run (I now will be working to time as opposed to distance), which worked out to be 4 miles. It was really warm again and unfortunately I was a bit stupid as I was already a bit dehydrated before I went out. I feel really unfit at the moment, but that will soon change. Lets put it this way... my body really doesn't have a choice.
I then did 3 sets of 20 body weight squats (which I found very easy) and 3 sets of 20KG dead lifts... however only managed 15 in each set. My back feels very shaky even now (an hour after doing them). I've done some recovery on my power plate as well. This feels very weird and I could only manage 7 minutes on it before it felt too uncomfortable. I bought this piece of equipment a few years ago and thought it was rubbish, but apparently it's good for recovery.... so, onwards and upwards.
I'm now bathed, rehydrated with cherry juice and had my tea. So, on with "V" that I Sky+'d last night I think! I live an exciting life!
Is the footcare regime a 'sporty' thing or is it pampering them i.e. soaking them and moisturising etc? I'm never sure what to do with mine because if I make them all soft I get blisters!!
ReplyDeleteIt's fairly sport and race specific. I've got a file that looks like it was a cheese grater in a previous life, cream and of course there's lots of Vaseline needs to be used too. I've never filed callouses... So I have no idea what it will be like. Ironically.... My worst blisters came after wearing flip flops for a fortnight then doing a marathon. Here I am a year later finally filing down the hard skin which has plagued me ever since. I'll let you know how I get on :-)
