I'm having one of those days where things are finally falling into place. Graemes' money is sorted (which means our finances are finally in good nick) so I've ordered a few training aids (namely trainers, trail shoes, hydration belt and a very snazzy looking powerbreathe that judges how much force you need when using it...unlike the old one I had from years ago that is like a screw bottom and gets you to breathe until failure).
So, I'm also booking the plane and hotel for the Isle of Man Marathon on Monday. I'm quite looking forward to that... it was the "huge free fantastic buffet afterwards" that grabbed my attention for that one.
The bad news is, I'm not going to be ready for that or Fleetwood. I won't have enough time to get into my XL training properly. As my longest run will be 2 hours (which over time will be done faster and with heavier weight in the vest), it would be very unrealistic of me to expect to do anywhere near a decent time so soon. I'm tempted to look for a marathon in January time, as I may be more prepared by then. We aren't doing Toronto this year either... after just getting ourselves sorted financially I would rather put that sort of money towards a fab Christmas instead.
Tonight I had an uncomfortable time at the spa.... but I must get used to the feeling of being far too hot. I managed to stay in the sauna for the whole 15 minutes. I was completely fidgety and light headed in the last minute, but it's done now. I was reading about peoples experiences when training for the Badwater Ultra... these people spent an hour in the sauna and got to the point they felt sick, dizzy, claustrophobic and panicky. Now THAT'S dedication. One of them even did exercise on a stationary bike wearing a wetsuit, woolly hat and winter gloves. Hmmmm... I do have my own wet suit... ha ha... yeah, righty oh! I don't think so somehow!
I finished off tonight with a bit of a swim, and did 400 metres in 13 minutes... 3 minutes quicker than last week, however did it the wrong way round, as I'm supposed to exercise first and sauna etc afterwards. So, I'll not do it like that again.
Graeme and I are off to a posh hotel tomorrow. It will be nice to sit there, having a lovely meal... knowing we're finally debt free! :-)
Have a wonderful weekend and a great time in your posh hotel :-D

ReplyDeleteI haven't even thought as far ahead as Fleetwood yet. I suppose I should start looking for a hotel soon...
