Yep... I appear to be in a new age category... my 40's.
Yesterday was a bit boring to be honest. Most of my family hadn't realised it was my 40th, and as Graeme is soon to be out of a job he was under strict instructions I wanted a card and nothing else. We need to be careful, as I don't know how on earth we are going to get by if he can't find something else sharpish!
I did a 10.6 mile run yesterday too, and got caught in some awful weather whilst wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The last bit of the run was done in a fartlek fashion in order to get me home quickly as my arms were completely numb. I managed to get a new HR Max too whilst I was on... 184! It means I can now run to a slightly higher HR for 70%, 80%, 90% and so on, of my maximum.
I got a nice fmail from Foxy Davy asking if I would like to go for dinner with all the 10 in 10 people at Windermere, as he thought I'd be there on my own. Of course Graeme will be with me, but it was nice of him to consider I may have been there in a "Billy no mates" capacity!
I feel very sorry for him, as he has had a bad hamstring problem which has manifested into painful ITB issues.... for a streaker to have 3 days off running and then be in agony when he next tries to run must be devastating. I think he's really worried about not making the 10 in 10. I hope he'll be ok!
I got a wobble board the other day, and wobble is the operative word! My god, I can't even stay level for a few seconds. I did a 1 minute plank on it the other day, and my stomach has been in bits ever since. I'm thinking I maybe should leave well alone until after London.
Merlin went to the vets about his poorly gums. He needs a dental (a snippet at £250). He's had 50 quids worth of antibiotics and painkillers which will see him through for the next fortnight. It never rains but it pours eh?
And I had my appraisal with my manager today. It didn't go as bad as I feared. Luckily, although I'm not doing great, my conversion rates are still high.... it just shows there are no sales to be had in Sunderland at the moment. Having said that, I had a good selling day today.
I'm supposed to run tonight, but I'm not going to. I've been concentrating on doing all of the leg strengthening stuff to help my knee, and it's working but I'm aching all over today so I shall have a rest and recoup day.
I'm wondering what to take to London with me. I'm really really looking forward to it... probably more the social side of it than the run. It's going to be great. I have no target for the marathon, although I am expecting a PB. I have done long runs of 18, 20, 16, 22, 24.... so I feel like I should get a slightly better time.
