I ran 6 miles yesterday with no ill effects on the hamstring. Imagine my despair when an hour later my hamstring felt bruised and sore. So, I spent the night doing a bit of RICE every 15 minutes in the hour, and I have woke up this morning and it feels totally fine. I find it difficult to make it hurt... stretching doesn't bother it at all. I'm starting to think I may have misplaced a foot on my 24 mile run at some point and jarred it.
Anyway, it's feeling ok, but I'm not going to run today and will continue the RICE. I can be quite sensible, sometimes (honest).
So, an email from the Fife 50K left me devastated last night. It has been cancelled due to lack of entrants. I had a quick moan on Facebook, and had an ultra runner advise me of the Boddington 50K. So, I looked it up and it is very similar to the Fife one with the loops and terrain. So, I entered.
I then got up this morning and thought hmmmmmm..... I need to do a marathon in training for it. So, I ended up entering the Windermere Marathon (it's always been on my to do list!) Only thing is I haven't done any sort of hill work.... well, that's not entirely true. I have done a few hilly routes, but no hill training per se.
To be honest though, I will just be ambling along and not trying for a good time. Who cares, it will just be a lovely training run.
