Ironing out the kinks

I like that phrase... "Ironing out the kinks". I read it once in a running book relating to recovery runs. Apparently by doing a very slow (with low HR) run the day after a monsterous effort, the action of using the legs on an easy run can ease everything off by way of aches and pains.
Today that's exactly what I did. I ran my scheduled 6 miles, at first rather tentatively as I thought it would hurt too much, but the further I got into the run the better I felt.
So I achieved the 49 miles this week, and have finished on 121 miles for February... not bad considering I didn't run until 7th of the month!

I realised today that for my 18 miler yesterday I had "forgotten" to carb load. Doh!
I ate a meal the night before with potatoes... I normally have my worst running days when I try to use potatoes for fuel the night before. Potatoes are fab if I'm running 2 or 3 hours later, but not the next morning. So, I'm thinking I managed fairly well yesterday under the circumstances.

The plan for next week is 53 miles, so I'm thinking pasta may be on the menu at some point.
