Boredom

Training has not gone as it should, and it hasn't gone as it should for weeks. I didn't know what was wrong with me until I started reading a book about hypnosis for running. I realised that not only do I not have any intermediate goals for races, but I am also bored to death. I'm running in the same places, doing the same things and am not excited by anything at the moment.

You'd think my training improvements would be going terribly with all of this in mind, but in actual fact each session has been rather progressive and I've had a lot of training season PB's for weights/speed of intervals etc. In fact, I've done a lot of stuff lately that I haven't achieved since the latter part of 2011, before I hurt my foot.

So, I realise that Venice has been a "I'll just wing it when I get there" sort of race plan and not only have I not cared if I finish it, I also haven't even cared about starting it. So, I've given myself 3 targets for the race. Hopefully I haven't done this too late in the day, and I will achieve at least one of those targets.

The Ambit I bought has got on my nerves as I find it quite unreliable for distance compared to the Garmin, so, I got myself another Garmin 910XT for doing training runs and races under 20 hours. The Ambit will still get used when I want a longer battery and it's pretty good for hill reps too, so all is not lost there!
