New plans

Well, I had my first (and last) full day of juicing yesterday. We got up and had a "Sunrise" juice with beetroot, orange and carrot. I thought it was minging! At half ten I had a carton of coconut water (which I actually love, so that was no problem) and as my receptionist ate her lunch from our favourite café, I had the most disgusting green juice I have ever had the displeasure to taste. On the way home, I drank the other half of it, only for the bottle I had to explode all over the car and I had a very stinky green mess to wipe up. I got home and went for a run/walk and for the first time since The Wall, I ran pain free. I was delighted, although still strapped up, so I don't know how it will be without the Rocktape on.

Graeme and I had our "tea" (another green juice) and I lost the plot and said I couldn't cope with such disgusting flavours anymore. I took a home made broth out of the freezer and had that instead and my mood instantly lifted. It also made me think clearer and I decided that I would go back to my original plan of only having the juice for breakfast but eating very clean for the rest of the time. The recommendation when you are training is not to have just juice on it's own anyway!

I got up this morning and had the same juice I'd had yesterday morning and this time it tasted better. I spent the day eating healthy vegetables and grains and kept up with the coconut water and then I went to the gym and did my rowing and 10 minutes on the elliptical machine. No knee pain... this is very promising! I finished off with 17 minutes in the sauna and I didn't have to sit on the floor this time... I managed the lowest shelf. :-)

I also deferred my 24 race to next year. The RD was very accommodating and said deferring wasn't a problem at all. Shaun agreed that although disappointing for me, I had made the right decision. So, I'm now going to concentrate on Venice marathon and try and get as fit as possible for that. One of the things I plan to do is lose some weight. To be where I looked my best, I need to lose 14lb. Sounds a lot, but I have a new determination especially after finding out today my waist is a shockingly bad 31 inches. It has only been this big once before (when I was pregnant!!!) so that literally horrified me when I saw it. And I have used callipers to measure body fat, so I know that the 14lb I need to lose has to be fat and not muscle. So... I have a plan to get sorted, and I'm feeling positive about it.

Tonight I had a vegetable stir fry which I made myself and it tasted gorgeous. It seemed strange having it without rice or noodles but it did the job and filled me up, so I'm not hankering for any more food tonight! I'm looking forward to tomorrow as it's run/walk day, so I'm hoping I can increase the running sections and see how my knee feels.
