Tonight I got home from work and weighed out loads of 2KG bags of sand and a couple of 1KG ones. Trying to keep the dogs nose out of the big bag of sand while I measured it all out was easier said than done. So, I packed the front of my XL vest with 2KG and packed a further 13KG into my Raidlight backpack. I lifted it up to put it and got the shock of my life as it was much heavier than I expected it to be.
I went out for my 15 minute walk and could feel the strain immediately, especially across my shoulders (note for next time... Put a towel across shoulders before putting the pack on!) I also tried to walk as briskly as possible whilst making sure my posture was correct and I wasn't leaning forward too much. I quite enjoyed it and I'm sure going further next time will be fine, although today was quite tough. The plan is to do this session on a Wednesday until I can do an hour and then move it to alternative Saturdays building up to a much longer session whilst going *much* heavier on a Wednesday starting back at 15 minutes again! I can't wait. :-)
After a big bowl of broth I went up to do my squat session. The full range ones were really tough but the partials and statics were relatively easy, and I found a 10 second static of 120KG right at the end of the exercise was fairly comfortable to do. Apparently my weights sessions are changing too, so I have no idea what that will entail at the moment.
