Excruciating

I went to the physio yesterday, and he told me the knee pain I'm having is definitely ITB, but it isn't too bad and 10 days should be long enough to get shot of it. He said he thought I'd got away with doing the ultra relatively unscathed, and said I must be well chuffed with my physique. Unfortunately I couldn't agree with him there, as after putting on half a stone since coming home from India I feel like a house end! So, he showed me a pilates exercise called the Clamshell and told me to do loads and loads to the point they burn the gluteus medius muscle (which is weak and has caused the ITB) and he showed me a stretch that I need Graeme to do for me. When Tim did it, it really hurt and my knee clicked quite loud on the 5th attempt. Apparently I can train as normal but I'm to avoid squats for 10 days.

So, today every time I walked down stairs my knee was absolutely killing me, which I didn't expect after all of the stretching. I had done 100 clamshell exercises last night and my bum didn't ache at all, however doing them again tonight they really really ached. I tried to run and got 2 minutes in and had to stop as my knee was excruciatingly painful.

I just have to hope that after having had so much done last night during the physio appointment, that is the reason everything feels so bad today! I trust Tim though, and believe him when he says it's nothing serious and won't take long to go.
