Reality bites

Graeme went for the run through the Dene today after getting over his little strop yesterday. While he was out I packed about 90% of my case ready for India. I then did my most hated type of training (powerbreathe). It's getting easier, so I know it will be worth putting up with it. After an hour and a half Graeme came back and looked a little worse for wear. I asked him how it had gone (yesterday he told me that I was probably worrying unnecessarily about the trail and hills we will face, as although the Dene run is a very similar elevation, the ultra will be 1 mile longer so the elevation won't be so bad). He looked at me and shook his head saying he can't do 15:5 or he wouldn't get through half marathon distance without blowing up. He only did his run about 3 minutes quicker than I did, so I think reality has suddenly hit him in the face a bit. Oh well, forewarned is forearmed!

This afternoon we went and got the final bits and bobs needed for the trip, so we really are all ready for the off. I have 3 runs to do (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and then I won't get the opportunity to run until maybe Sunday in India. I think it will be 3 more runs over there and then thats it until the big day! In fact... Two weeks from today, it will all be over!
