The podiatrist rang me last night to see how my foot is progressing. I told him about how I have done 2 lots of 2 miles of run/walking and managed an hour and a half of walking with the dog and he seemed pleased. I explained that my foot still doesn't feel normal, and he told me that it could be around 2 months before that happens and to continue doing exactly what I'm doing now. He told me not to do any form of stretching or massaging of my foot after the run so as not to irritate the nerve (so that's the Internet with another incorrect procedure then) and maybe it's time for a 3 or 4 mile run at the weekend... I actually felt a little nervous but excited by that suggestion and emailed William immediately to tell him the good news. I decided to do 2 miles run/walk with a 3:1 split on the treadmill this morning and then a mile with my mam on the afternoon and if all went well then I would attempt 4 miles on Saturday.
The run on the treadmill went very well and I congratulated myself for doing good. Getting a shower afterwards and for the rest of the day I moved my foot as little as I could, and then I went for the mile run with my mam on the afternoon. She is doing amazing and completed the mile 40 seconds faster than the last 2 runs. Getting back home she asked if I would look at when the race for life is, and I said I was sure it would be sometime in July. I haven't looked yet, but if it doesn't clash with Clyde Stride I will enter it for us... if not we may have to go further afield and enter a different one.
