Digging deep

This has been the second weekend in a row that I have had to dig deep on a motivational level for training... only thing is, I didn't succeed in digging deep enough this time and apart from a 2 mile walk with the dog yesterday, I have done literally bot all!
I moped around the house like a teenager that has been grounded yesterday, and every time I left the house I saw somebody running. I turned on the TV and saw adverts of people running. I watched a film only to find the main character ran every morning. Facebook was full of Brighton/Paris/Bungay marathon status updates on carb loading and anxiousness over the impending hot weather...and then there's next weeks London marathon. I hate the London Marathon... but I still wish I was doing it! I can't imagine running around the block at the moment and it is soul destroying. Do I want to cross train and do stepping/cycling/swimming... do I hell. It's just not the same!

I'm hoping my AQx suit and shoes come soon, as at least deep water running is something like normal running. I see too many people going back to training before they should (I know of one bloke who still has a bad foot after a year and a half because he doesn't rest it long enough) and I'm not stupid enough to do that, but it doesn't mean I need to like the situation I'm in.

Yesterday we found the cat had mistaken my step for his cat litter box and peed against it. We couldn't get the smell out of the carpet underneath (in the living room) and have had to rip half of it up. It now means we need to decorate! It has spurred us on to think about redecorating upstairs, which means we will have the space to accommodate friends when they want to stay, as we plan on changing bunk beds to a double bed in one of the rooms and the single bed in the other room will be replaced with a 3/4 bed which would be better for an adult (or in Lukes' case, an ever growing child). We also plan on getting fitted wardrobes in our bedroom which will make the room so much bigger. As we are only going abroad once this year (for Amsterdam marathon), we think we could probably tackle a bedroom a month. It will be so nice to accommodate friends who have generously put us up many a time in the past... maybe we can actually enter races from here in the future with that in mind. :-)
