I decided to go to Start Fitness today and ask for some advice on trail shoes. It doesn't seem to matter what I try, they are never very comfortable and I can never imagine running as far as 6 miles in them... never mind an ultra! As Start Fitness were the people who first introduced me to Asics Kinsei's (after a year of trying to find a trainer I was happy with), I figured they would be able to find me a good trail shoe too.
When I got there, I explained that I needed a shoe with absolutely no support as my orthotics would do what was needed there... and I told the bloke there that I really loved the feel of the Adidas Kanadia but they were support shoes... weren't they?
No... turns out they are a neutral shoe. I took my time and tried a few pairs on and then he brought the Kanadia out and immediately I felt the same way about these as I had about the Kinsei's the first time I tried them on... they were perfect. I bought a pair. I also got a pair of adidas long running tights and some shorts as they were discounted. Graeme got a load of cycling stuff... I think I'll faint when I see him do some exercise though as I think he's forgotten how to do it!
So, my foot is loads and loads better... not perfect, but better. Unfortunately I have a meeting tomorrow, so it will be very late by the time I get to the baths for my DWR... here's hoping there isn't loads of kids there, all getting in the way!
