Targets

The snow is now completely getting on my nerves! I tried to order some YakTracks for my trainers today, only to find they are completely out of stock... typical, as that was my "cheap" answer to being able to run in this irritating white stuff. I can see me having to buy a pair of something much more expensive at this rate, and of course Graeme will need a pair of them too!!!

I had to ask William about the form for Basel, as it asked what I expected to achieve at the 12 hour event. I secretly harboured the desire of trying to get as close to 50 miles as I could, however thought that he would say I was being far too ambitious and to go for a much lower target. When I got the email with his "forecast" I was chuffed, as he said he thought I should write "More than 70KM"... that's great, as that equates to more than 43.75 miles. I can imagine the other 6.25 miles would be way worse than the final 6.2 miles of a marathon... but it's a great target to go for. My God... 70KM... it's a long way innit?

So, it's the physio tomorrow. He told me over the phone he would show me some good stretches to do after squats and deadlifts, so to keep me in tip top shape. That will be good... I don't think I know of a decent stretch for your back to be honest.

We have made a pact at work that from now on we aren't going out every day for lunch, but instead are going to fill our work fridge and cupboards with healthy food and eat that instead! Graeme and I have already made the same pact about takeaways... we are going to start cooking ourselves more, so we know what ingredients are in our food. And the alcohol consumption that seems to have crept up (along with an extra few pounds in weight) will cease on New Years Day. I was tee-total for most of last year, so I can easily achieve that again!

December really has been a wash out for training, but in a way it's been good because I'm dying to get going and start it all up again. I'm going to email and ask about upping the weight in my XL vest (which I haven't done at all since first starting wearing it), I want to lose 10lbs by May which will have me back around 9 stone (so, sensible eating and no alcohol will have me achieving that fairly easily), I'm starting to wear my vest with double the weight in it on alternate days while walking the dog (a cheeky "extra" bit of training)... and I'm really looking forward to doing it all! I relish those days where it hurts to move because I've worked so hard the day before! No pain no gain! :-)

And as for work, well, Carol (my receptionist) and I have already sorted the first 6 month plan out, and it's going to be an entrepreneur sort of year. I think that's the only way we'll get through it, as I think it's going to be a toughie in the current climate. I am also ready for that challenge!

So, it may be a week or so early, but "bottoms up" ... hope 2011 is as fabulous for you as it bloody well better be for me! :-)
