Everyday Hurts

I'm not going to start putting song lyrics and titles for the name of my blog, but today, Skunk Anansi's "Everyday Hurts" just seemed far too apt to ignore.

I went to circuits, and as Jen and I were in the changing room we discussed who we thought would be instructing today. We hoped it wasn't Alex. He loves a good upper body work out, and his class always seems a tad boring.
Sure enough, it was Alexs' class today. Both of us were gutted, as was Graeme and Vince (who walked in and could have done a better job at hiding their disappointment may I add).

There was a mini circuit of 1 minute jogging on the spot, 1 minute kick backs and 1 minute deep squats, then the main circuit comprised of press ups, 5KG dumbbell bicep curls, running, 9KG barbell upright row, 2KG dumbbell shoulder press, crunches on a stability ball, tricep dips, lunges with 6KG dumbbells and finishing off with the plank.

The first mini circuit was done then it was straight into the main circuit for 1 minute per station. Then we did the same thing again for the second round.
A 3rd set of 30 seconds "blast" was done after the mini circuit, then another 30 seconds set was done. By this time, my arms are dropping off and everyone around looks severely pissed off. Alex made a joke about something and it dropped like a lead balloon!
We were then made to do a 5th set... again, 1 minute per station. I could barely hold myself up for the press ups. It really was awful. I don't mind hard work during the class but it just seemed tedious and monotonous today.

So, after dinner at my parents house, I came home and dragged myself upstairs for my deadlifts, taking with me some hardcore dance music to try and keep me from waning.
I did 15 reps at 35KG, 12 reps at 45KG (done speed/explosive stylee), 10 reps at 50KG, 7 at 55KG (failed on the 8th attempt) and a final 2 reps at 60KG. My form was shocking at this point, so I didn't attempt the 3rd rep.
I came downstairs and could barely move for about 10 minutes. I've had a bath to try and soothe my muscles, but tomorrow is going to be painful (especially my upper body). I genuinely found it difficult to pick the kettle up earlier!!!

So, everyday really does hurt, but as I always say... I like it! :-)
