I've had a day full of targets today.
My District Manager came to see me today and gave me my targets for 2011. Fortunately, he knows that I'm working as hard as I can, and he's keeping them at the same level as this year. Apparently my conversion rate this month was 47%...pretty impressive. :-)
I then got an email from William asking me to forecast 3 targets for Fleetwood Marathon. I had to give a "worst case scenario" target, a "realistic" target and a "dream, if the weather and everything is perfect" target.
So, I gave 11.20mm (finishing the marathon in 4:56:56) as my worst case, 10.40mm as my realistic target (this would get me in at 4:39:28) and finally, the dream one as 10.00mm (a 4:22:00 finish time).
My reasons being, the marathon is flat so only the wind would be a problem on the day (as it is often windy there apparently). My current PB left me with my legs feeling like they would drop off, however the strength training I've been doing should eradicate that pain (hopefully).
My training in the XL vest is around 10.30- 10.40mm, therefore this is the realistic target, and finally, I've done 16.2 miles at 10mm pace, but at the time couldn't have ran any further at that pace, so that is the dream pace at the moment over the distance.
I got an email back saying well done, I'd chosen the paces well and was getting a feel for what my training is doing. So, the next 2 weeks will be marathon paced running for my taper. I'm really looking forward to the marathon, it'll be such a great weekend.
My third "target" incident today, I can't really say much about... only that I was told I was too target driven. I wasn't disappointed to be told this... it made me glad to be where I am and what I'm doing. In some ways, I'm a very lucky girl! :-)
Wow! I'm impressed with your targets for Fleetwood - I shall try to hang onto your shirt tail!
