Last night I did 3 sets of squats using the heaviest dumbells (10KG each) and didn't feel any strain at all. I did break out in a sweat, but I didn't find the exercise strenuous at all.
So, I rang Jupiter Gym today (I have gone there on and off for years) and asked about what equipment they had "downstairs". Now, "downstairs" is the demonic room. It's full of.... wait for it... free weights, squat stands, calf raise machines, and very buff looking body builder type people.
As I asked what equipment was there, the girl on the phone asked what training programme I was doing. I explained it was for marathon running and she replied "Is that Claire?". I was shocked... erm, yes, how did you guess, I said. Apparently I'm the only "lunatic" she knows!!!!
So, I emailed Shaun and explained that I will be going here on a Wednesday from now on, and got a reply, "Excellent, detailed info with changes will follow".
Tonight I had a relaxing evening at the spa. I managed half an hour in the sauna (with 2 ice plunges in the middle of that time), and before that did 400 metre swim in 11 minutes... getting faster ever so slightly!
As Isle of Man is off, Graeme and I have decided to splash out and have 2 nights away at a gorgeous hotel in Bath called McDonald Bath Spa. We're not having a proper holiday this year... so we deserve it, I reckon! ;-) Plus, we get to do our long run around the beautiful hilly city of Bath. It's nice to run somewhere new.
